SMALL WRITING TABLE, STAMPED P.ROUSSEL, FOR PIERRE ROUSSEL, LOUIS XVI PERIOD Rectangular, mahogany, mahogany and amaranth veneer, decorated with a reserve frame. It opens with a side drawer and a central shelf. It stands on sheath legs with brass rings at the top and bottom. With Jurande hallmark (Some cracks, some cracks repaired, some restorations to the veneer) A SMALL WRITING TABLE, STAMPED P. ROUSSEL, FOR PIERRE ROUSSEL, LOUIS XVI PERIOD 68 x 60 x 41 CM - 26,8 x 23,6 x 16,1 IN. Pierre Roussel (1723-1782) was awarded the title of Maîtreébéniste in 1745. By 1767, he was considered one of the greatest cabinet-makers of his time. He received prestigious commissions, supplying furniture to the Prince de Condé for the Palais Bourbon and the Château de Chantilly. Pierre Roussel's chests of drawers can be found in some of the world's greatest museums, including the MAD (Louis XV chest of drawers), the Carnavalet Museum (Transition chest of drawers), the Jacquemart-André Museum (Transition chest of drawers), the Louvre, the Petit Palais and Waddesdon Manor.
