PHILIPPE VI of Valois (1328-1350). Écu d'or à la chaise, 1st issue, 1 January 1337. Gold. 4,40g. (12h). Traces of an old mounting. VF. A/. The King seated in a gothic stall, crowned, dressed in haubert and cotte d'armes, holding a sword and the shield of France with lilies, within a polylobe cantoned with trefoils. The stall step is decorated with saltires.
R/. Four-lobed cross with flowers, within a quatrefoil decorated with leaves and flanked by four shamrocks without tails.
