PHOENICIAN GLASS EYE BEAD.
Ca. 400 - 200 BC A glass eye bead of globular form in dark blue-black glass with a wide central perforation, the body encircled by large applied protruding concentric eyes in white, yellow and dark blue, each end around the perforation ornamented with a ring of small white and yellow knobs. Size: 21mm x 28mm; Weight: 20.4g. Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Private collection 1970s-1990s; Reputedly from the Dr. Nolte collection, acquired in the early to mid 20th Century AD.
