PHOENICIAN TERRACOTTA STATUETTE OF ASTARTE. Ca. 600 - 400 BC. A terracotta statuette of Astarte depicted standing with fused legs and both arms held close to the sides. The torso is sculpted with rounded breasts and a faintly defined navel. The eyes are shallowly outlined, the nose is prominent, and the lips are subtly indicated. Wavy hair frames the face and extends down the back, partially covered by a headdress or veil that wraps around the top of the head. Mounted on a custom-made display stand.
