PORCELAIN DISH WITH LID FROM THE DOWRY SERVICE OF GRAND DUCHESS CATHERINE PAVLOVNA, IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY, ST. PETERSBURG, ALEXANDER PERIOD (1801-1825) square with curved corners and wavy edges, in the centre is painted a scene of the port of Girgenti (Agrigento) in a gilded roundel, borders decorated with gilded bands painted with floral garlands and four rust-coloured roundels each containing a sepia-coloured topographical scene, lid with pinecone-shaped socket in the centre of a circle of gilded decorations with stylised lilies, palmettes, garlands and leafy scrolls, inscription on the back of the plate 'Vue du Port ou Mole de Girgenti'; defects H 18 cm, W 29 cm A PORCELAIN COVERED PLATTER FROM THE DOWRY SERVICE OF GRAND DUCHESS CATHERINE PAVLOVNA, IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY, ST PETERSBURG, PERIOD OF ALEXANDER (1801-1825); DEFECTS Originally given by Alexander I to the Grand Duchess Catherine Pavlovna on the occasion of her marriage to King Wilhelm I of Württemberg
