Edition illustrated with an original, unreduced etching by Pablo Picasso with remarks, signed in pencil, as well as 100 plates of reproductions of works and documents, including two in colour. Signed by Paul Éluard in blue ink at the beginning of the book. Limited edition of 90 numbered copies, one of the 25 copies of the first edition on Hollande van Gelder laid paper (no. 22), containing an additional proof signed in copper, reduced and scratched at the corners. A tribute by Paul Éluard to his friend Picasso, this important monograph brings together all the poems and texts that the author dedicated to the painter. First published in 1944 in an ordinary edition, the work is here in a deluxe edition, including an engraving composed of two superimposed portraits, the lower one more elaborate and accompanied by a nude. This etching with remarks was initially printed in 25 copies for the first edition. Then, after reduction of the copper, 65 proofs were printed for the copies on Marais laid paper. Finally, after scribing, 25 proofs were printed to be added to the head edition. Case soiled and partially split. Cover soiled. A few tiny foxes on the cover and on some leaves.
