This carpet is part of a limited collection was produced between 1980_1990 by the acclaimed artist Teddy Sumner. Known as an innovator in the carpet industry, Michaelian & Kohlberg (M&K) founder Frank Michaelian was a leading pioneer of antique Oriental rugs in 1921. Many carpets from his collection are exhibited in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. His grandson Teddy Sumner, a master colourist considered a pioneer of natural dyeing, is both owner and principal designer of M&K. A qualified fine arts painter who has been creating carpet designs for over 30 years, Sumner is continually inspired by his extensive world travels and his deep love of nature. His design favours pink and brown in its interplay of geometric patterns and a high-low weave.
