Das hier angebotene Gemälde Pier Francesco Foschis steht kompositorisch einem Bild Andrea del Sartos nahe, welches sich ehemals in der Sammlung des Palazzo Pittis in Florenz befand und das heute als verschollen gilt. Einen wesentlichen Unterschied zeigt sich jedoch in der massiven manieristischen Überlängung der Madonnenfigur, die in Ihrem Ausdruck, der weichen und zarten Behandlung des Inkarnats und ihrer grazilen Eleganz eher an Arbeiten Jacopo da Pontormos erinnert. Foschi ging bei Andrea del Sarto als Schüler in die Lehre. 1536 assistierte er Pontormo bei der Ausmalung der Fresken für die Villa Medici von Careggi in Florenz. Part. min. old restored, very good painting largely free of old restoration. Very elaborate hand-carved florentine framing. The painting offered here by Pier Francesco Foschi is similar in composition to a painting by Andrea del Sarto, which was formerly in the collection of the Palazzo Pittis in Florence and is now lost. However, a significant difference can be seen in the massive manneristic overlength of the Madonna figure, which in its expression, the soft and delicate execution of the incarnation and its graceful elegance is more reminiscent of Jacopo da Pontormo's work. Foschi was apprenticed to Andrea del Sarto as a student. In 1536 he assisted Pontormo in colouring of the frescoes for the Villa Medici by Careggi in Florence.
