Pierre CHIBOUST or CHIBOUT (1779-1824), in PARIS A pair of finely chased gilt bronze sconces with one arm, richly decorated with stylised palmettes, foliage and scrolls. Monogrammed "CHI" under one of the brackets. Circa 1810-1820. Height: 21.5 cm Width: 6.2 cm Depth: 11.5 cm Cups with holes for electricity. The engraved mark CHI on the reverse most probably corresponds to Pierre Chiboust or Chibout, a Parisian bronzemaker active between 1806 and 1824, who worked with Claude François Rabiat whose workshop he took over in 1815.
