The first tests were carried out in Sénefelder's workshop before 1810, followed by a few more plates in England and finally a number of proofs in Paris from 1802 to 1813 by F. André. The process then developed in Munich, where G. Engelmann learned from Strixner and Piloty and succeeded in developing the art, moving to Mulhouse after 1814.
