Pieter van Bredael (1629-1719), follower of, Roman Landscape, oil on panel, 25x35 cm Provenance: Collection of an aristocratic Neapolitan family COLLECTION OF AN ARISTOCRATIC NEAPOLITAN FAMILY With over 200 paintings, this collection was built up during the 20th century by the patriarch of an eminent Neapolitan aristocratic family. He meticulously selected the works he wished to acquire from old Roman and Neapolitan families, leading Roman antique dealers and renowned Italian auction houses. The collection on sale today comprises paintings from the 16th to 18th centuries. It mainly comprises works by the Neapolitan Seicento, illustrious masters such as Paolo de Matteis (lot 2035), Scipione Compagno (lots 2031, 2032, 2033), 18th-century Venetian artists such as Placido Costanzi (lot 2034), Guardi (lot 2037), the Venetian (lot 2045) and Roman (lots 2040 and 2041) schools, as well as 17th-century Flemish works (lots 2042 and 2043).
