Lot no. 56
RUBENSIAN PAINTER OF THE 18TH CENTURY Portrait of a Franciscan friar Oil on paper applied to panel, 42X27.8 cm The painting well evokes the portrait of a Franciscan friar painted by Pietro Paolo Rubens in 1617 and now in the Hermitage Museum. In our case, the accuracy of the pictorial details reflect the author's Nordic education and the work exhibits a remarkable quality, both pictorial and draughtsmanship.
