ROUND DISH, NUREMBERG, BEFORE 1682
in pewter with relief decoration featuring in the centre "Temperance" surrounded by twelve small human masks. The middle band features a frieze of female figures alternating with deer and falling fruit, while the wing shows the various episodes of the "Parable of the Prodigal Son": his farewell to his father, his escapades and feasting, his return, the offering of the fatted calf, etc.
(A consolidation of the central medallion and two major repairs affecting only the base of the dish have been noted. No areas of relief decoration have been affected by these repairs).
