Lot no. 758
PLATONOV ANDREI (1899-1951) Chevengur Preface by Mikhail Geller. Paris: Ymca-Press, [1972]. 376 p. portrait ; 19х13,5 cm. In the publisher's illustrated cover by V. Chekrygin. Very well preserved. Slight scuffing to spine. Andrei Platonov's anti-utopia novel was written in the second half of the 1920s and partially published in periodicals of the time. A separate part was published under the title 'The Origin of the Master' (1929). However, during the author's lifetime, the novel was never printed in its entirety. In 1972, 'Chevengur', without the chapter 'The Origin of the Master', was published simultaneously in French and Italian translations, and then in Russian by the Ymca-Pres publishing house. In the USSR, publication of the novel only became possible during the perestroika years: in 1988, it was published in the magazine Druzhba Narodov (Peoples' Friendship), and then as a separate book. The first complete edition of the novel. At the buyer's request, we will be happy to provide a general condition report on the lot described above.
