In-folio, fawn morocco, decorated in the Du Seuil style, spine decorated, edges mottled (19th century binding). A magnificent edition of Jacques Amyot's translation, revised and corrected by him and published, three years after the first edition, by Michel de Vascosan - and his son-in-law Frédéric Morel, whose name only appears in the colophon - in the same majestic format as the Lives of Illustrious Men (1559).
