HLdr. d. Zt. with RVerg. u. gold stamped RSchild (rubbed, partly stained, 1 joint chipped, spine, corners and joints partly restored). First edition. - Sabin 102431 - Renard 1680 - Hill 1843 - Rosove 345.A1. - Spence 1246 - Weddell's expedition travelled and explored the Cape Verde Islands, the South Orkney Islands, the South Shetland Islands and the South Georgian Islands, spent the winter on the Falkland Islands and described Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia and Montevideo. During their journey south, they reached the lowest latitude that had ever been recorded. This explored area is now known as the "Weddell Sea". - Mirror with engraved ex. Some browning and foxing, frontispiece somewhat stained and with small scrape, production-related minimal creases to the edges, otherwise generally in good condition. Polar regions. - First edition.
