[POLAND]. GERSON (Wojciech). Polish costumes drawn from life. Warsaw, Daziaro, s.d. [1855]. In-4, mounted on tabs, midnight blue half-chagrin with corners, gilt title on upper cover (Binding of the period). First edition of this extremely rare suite of 24 plates of Polish costumes in carefully coloured and gummed proofs, drawn from life by Gerson (14), Guminski (7), Polikarpe (2) and Suchodolski (1) and lithographed by Émile Desmaisons (20) and Adolphe Maurin (4). It opens with a two-tone lithographed title. Colas has not been able to find a copy of this work, which he describes according to Vinet, requiring only 15 plates in black or coloured. From the Thomas de Savoie-Genoa library, with the stamp of the Biblioteca del Duca di Genova on the verso of one plate. Joints slightly worn, a few rare freckles. Colas, n°1233 - Vinet, n°2311.
