Nigon, 1863-1873. 8 volumes large in-8, half violet basane, spine decorated, speckled edges (period binding). First edition, illustrated with 378 (out of 381) copper-engraved plates finely hand-coloured. Complete collection of this superb publication written by Charles-Fortuné Willermoz, secretary of the Congrès Pomologique de France. The first four volumes are devoted to pears and the following to other varieties of fruit: apples, peaches and apricots, plums and cherries, and finally grapes, raspberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, quinces and medlars. An elegant, unblemished copy in an attractive contemporary binding. Slight tears on the spines of two volumes. Three plates of cherries and their notices (nos. 6 to 8) are missing.
