Of a beautiful freshness with only small marks of handling and hairlines which slightly brown the fields in particular on the right. The reverse is with the original brightness barely gilded. Superb with corner flower.
Engraving by Francisco de Borja Freire (1791-1869), nephew of the engraver Cipriano Da Silva Moreira, apprenticed to the Lisbon Mint in 1814, then Second Engraver in 1830. In 1836, he travelled to London to study under W.J. Taylor. In 1842, he was appointed Chief Engraver of the Lisbon Mint.
