Uncut Permission for censorship was given on 9 June 1827, the censor being Ivan Snegirev. The date of the second edition was 22 June 1827 (price 42 kopecks), but it was not put on sale, with the exception of an insignificant number of copies. The very few copies of this edition were considered a bibliographic rarity on the booksellers' market in the 19th century. But by 1915, 900 copies had been found, and this edition no longer had the status of a rarity. The edition has become more common than any other book in Pushkin's life. Bibliography: Markov.
