Jørgen Høyer, brother-in-law of present owner worked alongside Poul Kjærholm from 1950-1952 at the office of Fritz Hansen. They became friends and it was this relation which made it possible for present owner's parents to aquire the table after the exhibit at Dansk Kunsthåndværks Forårsudstilling. The table?s design comes from the very earliest and most experimental period in Poul Kjærholm's production, around the time where he graduated from the School of Architecture in 1951. It was at that time Kjærholm designed two chairs that best illustrate the two aspects that can be found in his later designs. The architectural and the sculptural. One model was the PK 25, which is an edgy, architectural chair made of bent metal. The other model is the PK 0, which shows Kjærholm?s more organic, sculptural side. This coffee table is solely linked to the sculptural, perhaps as the only one of Kjærholm's table designs. The table can be seen as a clear nod to Isamu Noguchi?s sculptural tables, especially his coffee table from 1947. Estimate in DKK : 300000 / 400000
