Magnificent historicism jewellery box with Watteau decoration from KPM Berlin
Rectangular, cambered body on all sides with a curved, rising hinged lid. The wall and lid decorated with rocaille-shaped relief cartouches in gold on a pale yellow ground. Inside, on a white ground, scenic depictions of courtly couples in a tree-lined park landscape, so-called cotton wool figures, in polychrome painting. Elaborate, moulded and partly open-worked Neo-Rococo bronze mounting with c-arched rocaille and cartouche work, fully sculpted cherubic appliqués and imposing lid crowning with ball finial. Model no. 3476 with yellow lining. Shield-like keyhole, without hollow spike key. Sceptre mark. H. 27 cm. 26 cm x 18 cm.
