Magnificent monumental Meissen potpourri vase with cupids A baluster-shaped, strongly bulging vase body with a rounded shoulder and moulded rim on a stepped, rocaille-relief round foot. Hollowed, open-worked lid surrounded by rocaille relief, merging into leaves in relief as the base for a magnificent bouquet of various open flowers modelled in fine relief. Flower tendrils rising in relief at the sides as handles. Finely modelled, applied decoration with lavish festoons of summer flowers and fruit. Seated cupid with garland below and above. Cartouche-like framing with the depiction of a gallant couple after Watteau and flower bouquets. Fine polychrome painting with rich gold decoration. Designed by Johann Joachim Kaendler. Model no. 2745; rest; crossed swords mark. Total h. 64 cm. A monumental lidded porcelain potpourri vase with finely applied flowers, cupids and a scene after Watteau. Modelled by J. J. Kaendler.
