Magnificent table decoration of a meadow with Vincennes flowers Oval base with screwed stems and leaves in fine relief made of brass. With colourful, so-called Vincennes blossoms made of soft porcelain in polychrome painting or partially glazed in monochrome white. Unw. dam.; dimensions approx. 45 cm x 36 cm x 28.5 cm. The Meissen porcelain manufactory commissioned the Vincennes-Sèvres manufactory in Paris to produce flowers of this kind. This resulted in luxurious arrangements of valuable Meissen porcelain figurines combined with fire-gilt bronze mountings and French flower decoration. Such flower meadows served as prestigious table decorations during courtly banquets. A very large bouquet of Vincennes flowers from the mid-18th century was a gift from Maria Josepha of Saxony to the royal collection of her father August III. Today SKD Porcelain Collection, inv. no.
