Lot no. 7
Magnificent and unusual table decoration in the shape of a three-masted sailing ship on wheels, so-called Nef. Silver, partially gilded. Two-part structure. The lower part consisting of four movable wheels as support for a narrow, elongated hull. The wall decorated with leaf-framed relief decoration with putti riding a dolphin. The upper, removable part forms the deck with screwed masts with billowing sails and rigging. Gilded figures climb up the ropes to the mast baskets. Naturalistic planks with wood grain. Partly indistinctly marked, probably Spanish hallmark since 1934 for 915 silver. Weight approx. 1410 g. H. 43 cm. 12 cm x 37 cm.
Based on stylistic comparisons, this could also be a Hanau silver work by the Neresheimer company for export to Spain.
