Lot no. 199
Magnificent, late classicist table mirror. Silver, fully gilded and wood. Narrow, rectangular, centrally recessed wooden stand, covered with dark purple velvet. The top and bevelled edges decorated with applied leaf ornaments in relief and rosettes of flowers and stars. Architectural structure screwed to the stand: rectangular plinth supported by two figurative volutes and decorated with magnificent leaf rosettes, merging into high rising Ionic columns. The slightly conical column shafts are surrounded by broad fluting and end in voluted capitals decorated with fruit bundles and scrolled acanthus leaves. Above a narrow crossbar surrounded by a laurel leaf and egg-and-dart frieze, a splendid, open-worked, pediment-shaped finial of heavily voluted acanthus leaf tendrils framed by two spheres. In the centre, putti flanked by two stylised butterflies emerge from the leafy tendrils and hold a large laurel wreath. Below, between the column shafts, a horizontally mounted and swivelling, faceted mirror in a rectangular frame with rounded corners, surrounded by flower rosettes and leafy branches. The back of the mirror also covered with velvet. Marked, 13 lot, inspection mark with date; total height 61 cm. 56 cm x 11.5 cm.
