Prächtiges Paar Instrumentarien: Barometer mit Thermometer und Uhr mit Thermometer Höhe: je ca. 91 cm. Uhr auf dem Zifferblatt und Barometer bezeichnet „P. Sormani/ A Paris". Frankreich, 19. Jahrhundert. Die beiden Instrumentarien basieren auf einem Modell, das dem Bronzier Pierre-Joseph-Désiré Gouthière (gest. 1813) zugeschrieben wird. Sie befanden sich ehemals im Château de Saint-Cloud und sind nun im Louvre zu sehen. Bronze, vergoldet, Email sowie Wedgewood-Biskuitporzellan in weiß und blau. Das eine Messgerät mit Temperaturanzeige mit Quecksilber sowie darunter eine Uhr, das andere mit Temperaturanzeige und einem Barometer. Barometer und Uhr jeweils in rundem Rahmen über Pinienzapfen und Konsolkonstruktion, seitlich umzogen mit Füllhörnern mit Blüten ausziehendem Eichenlaub. Darüber Girlanden, die zu einem Sockel mit Biskuitprozellaneinlage und symmetrisch angelegten Applikationen führen. Darauf der Thermometeraufbau mit seitlichen freistehenden gerillten Säulen, die in geflügelten Puttenköpfen enden. Diese fassen eine ovale Biskuitporzellanplakette ein, diese mit vollplastischem Rosenblütenkranz. Die Bronze ist äußerst fein ziseliert und zumeist stark vollplastisch ausgearbeitet. Literatur: Vgl. The present instruments are based upon a model attributed to the bronzier Pierre-Joseph-Désiré Gouthière (died 1813). They were formerly at the Château de Saint-Cloud and are now int eh collection of the Musée du Louvre, Paris. Gilt-bronze; enamel and bisque porcelain in white and blue. One of the devices with quicksilver temperature indicator and a clock below. The other with temperature indicator and barometer. Barometer and clock are each in a round frame over pine cones and consoles with cornucopias on either side filled with flowers and oak leaves. Surmounted by garlands reaching up to a pedestal with bisque porcelain inlays and symmetrical appliqués carrying the thermometer structure with free standing fluted columns surmounted by winged putti heads at the sides. The columns surround an oval bisque porcelain plaque with a three-dimensional rose blossom wreath. The bronze is finely chased and largely sculpted three-dimensionally.
