As comprehensive and varied as the chinoiseries by Johann Gregorius Hoeroldt, Prof. Heinz Werner takes up the theme of the oriental fairy-tale world here. With more than 500 individual motifs, the "1001 Nights" service is the largest modern service produced by the Meissen manufactory. While the first scenes by Heinz Werner (1928 - 2019) from 1969 were still very much in the graphic style, the oriental motifs were given a highly painterly character with freely rhythmic, delicate brushwork, fragrant robes and filigree drapery when the subject matter was taken up again and further developed in the early 1970s.
