A VERY RARE AND IMPRESSIVE UNDERGLAZE-BLUE AND COPPER-RED MEIPING VASE, CHINA, QING DYNASTY, YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-1735)
53 cm high, 22 cm wide
This magnificent vase elegantly sturdily and skillfully modeled with a round body rising from a slightly recessed base to the high flared shoulder sloping and taper towards below a short waisted neck with an everted rim, the exterior finely decorated with a continuous scene with a striking design of a trunk prunus tree with gnarled flowering branches that branch around the vase, the prunus tree and his branches and leaves painted in shades of under-glaze bright intense inky-cobalt blue and the prunus blooms picked out in under-glaze copper-red of raspberry-red tone, the slightly recessed base unglazed shows the white porcelaneous ware. In overall very good conditions, with only very minor firing imperfections.
