Prince Leopold of Belgium, Duke of Brabant (1859-1869)
Son of King Leopold II of Belgium. Only son and heir presumptive to the Belgian throne. The Prince died of pneumonia at the age of nine.
Extremely rare autograph letter signed, "Léopold", one page, 25 March 1868, in French. Prince Leopold carefully drafted a poetic text entitled "Charity", which reads in part: "Daughter of heaven, holy charity, be blessed, you through whom the evils afflicting the earth...". Folded. With a little general wear, mainly on the edges, and very small freckles on the borders. Tears.
