Lot no. 1876
PROKOFIEV (Serge). Autograph letter in Cyrillic, signed and dated 1929, addressed to Boris Kochno (1904-1990). 1 p. in-12, on verso postage and addressee's address
Prokofiev and Kochno worked together at the Ballets Russe. In 1920, Boris Kochno became Diaghilev's secretary following a brief relationship. His position required him to produce numerous essays for the Ballets Russes, in particular arguments for plays commissioned from Serge Prokofiev. Designated by Diaghilev as his successor on his death in 1929, Kochno was bequeathed the vast majority of his archives and collections, definitively establishing the long-standing rivalry with Serge Lifar.
