Large in-4°, anthracite morocco, boards mosaiced with two large decorations of multicoloured box pieces in the style of the illustrations in the book and a set of 8 gilt scrolls, black box lining, steel box endpapers, smooth spine with title mosaiced with box pieces, gilt edges, cover and spine, titled half-mahogany morocco folder with bands lined with leather of the same colour, slipcase lined (Thérèse Moncey). Luxurious edition illustrated with 61 original colour lithographs by Antoni Clavé, including 4 double-page and 15 full-page lithographs with numerous wood-engraved lettering and coloured culs-de-lampe by Blaise Monod. Edition of 220 numbered copies on Arches vellum, this one No. CXLII printed for Monsieur le docteur Jean Perrimon. Spine of dust jacket slightly faded, otherwise a very fine copy in an astonishing mosaic binding by Thérèse Moncey, bookbinder in Paris from 1946 to 1965, winner of the Grand Prix de la reliure française in 1950. Her decorations were executed by the greatest gilders of the period: Collet, Arnoult, Mercher, etc. (Monod, 9388).
