RAOUL LAMOURDEDIEU (1877-1953) The Javelin Thrower Bronze proof with shaded green patina Signed, justified Cire perdue n°1 and bearing the stamp of the foundry Barbedienne in Paris with the mention Cire perdue on the terrace Height 80.5 cm - Length 70.5 cm - Depth 18.5 cm This piece, along with two others by the same sculptor, Le Discobole and Athlète au repos, were exhibited from 4 May to 17 July 1924 at the Grand Palais in Paris during the sculpture competition organised to coincide with the 1924 Paris Olympic Games.
