Third edition, the first in reduced format, illustrated with 39 hors-texte plates, most of them folding, including 8 of costumes. All plates (except 2) are hand watercoloured at the time. An account of trips made to Switzerland and the Chamonix valley in 1819, 1820 and 1821. An evocative work of the Swiss Alps in the early 19th century, rare in this condition. A good copy (rare brown spots in volume III, discreet angular wetness towards the middle of volume II).
