A rare mid-19th century edition from Parma containing a selection of the famous biographies written by Giorgio Vasari, 'Pittore Aretino'. The volume, entitled 'Some Lives of Painters', collects the most significant profiles of the artists who defined the Italian Renaissance. Printed in Parma in 1844 by Pietro Fiaccadori, a renowned local publisher of the time.
The frontispiece is embellished with a fine woodcut vignette depicting a monument surrounded by nature, accompanied by the motto 'Il più bel fior ne coglie' (The most beautiful flower is picked), which underlines the anthological intent of the publication.
