RARE AND IMPORTANT BUDDHA AMITABHA.
Origin: Korea.
Date: 14th-16th c.
Technique: Dry lacquer with residue of gilding and pigments.
Description: Sitting in padma asana. The kasaya garment draped in elegant pleats over both shoulders leaves the chest free. Both hands are raised in a variation of the simhamukha mudra in front of the chest. Beneath the hip scarf girded with a large knot around the waist.
In the technique of the so-called dry lacquer, layers of textile are soaked with lacquer and brought into shape over a temporary core. The fine details are often modelled with a mass kneaded of lacquer and other materials before the figure is gilded and painted.
Measurement: Height 49cm.
Condition B. Hands broken and partly restored. In the lower part damaged.

SELTENER UND BEDEUTENDER BUDDHA AMITABHA.
Herkunft: Korea.
Datierung: 14.-16. Jh.
Technik: Trockenlack mit Resten von Lackvergoldung und farbiger Bemalung.
Beschreibung: Sitzend in padma asana. Das in elegante Falten über beide Schultern drapierte kasaya-Gewand lässt die Brust frei. Beide Hände sind in einer Form der Simhamukha mudra vor der Brust erhoben. Darunter wird das mit einem großen Knoten um die Taille gegürtete Hüfttuch sichtbar.
Bei der Technik des sog. Trockenlack werden Lagen von Textil mit Lack getränkt und über einen temporären Kern in Form gebracht. Die Feinheiten werden oft mit einer Masse aus Lack und anderen Stoffen modelliert, bevor die Figur vergoldet und bemalt wird.
Maße: Höhe 49cm.
Zustand B. Hände gebrochen und teils ergänzt. Im unteren Bereich stärkere Schäden.

-1993 erworben bei Galerie Flachsmann.
