RARE APULIAN LEKANIS WITH OFFERING SCENE. Ca. 350 BC. A red-figure pottery lekanis comprising a shallow circular bowl on a low ring foot with two horizontal handles, and a matching lid surmounted by a short stem and broad disc knob. The exterior of the bowl features a frieze of undulating tendrils with intervening dots between reserved fillets. The lid shows five draped women moving around the central field, each holding offering vessels. An ovolo band encircles the rim.
