RARE BYZANTINE INLAID GOLD PATTÉE CROSS PENDANT. Ca. AD 700 - 900. A gold pendant in the form of a cross pattée with globular finials at the four terminals, each arm widening from the centre and inlaid with dark blue glass. A small pellet sits below the tubular suspension loop at the top; the reverse is flat and plain. For similar see: Christie's, Live Auction 1313, Ancient Jewelry, Lot 502.
