Rare officer's helmet of the cuirassiers de la Garde model 1854. Silver-plated shell with remains of maker's marks "A.PESTILLAT". Boxed crest with Medusa head motif to the front, multi-part marmoset with braid decoration, N-shaped band under crown, flower-decorated bosses, velvet-lined chinstrap with guilloché rings, gold-plated brass plumet holder and snap ring. Visor and nape protector lined with leather. Iron-decorated leather inner headpiece. Horsehair mane adorned with a large braid of silver trimmings on a sole covered with ivory silk. B.E. (To be cleaned). Second Empire period. Pestillat was one of the suppliers of cuirasses and helmets to the cuirassiers de la Garde.
