Rare personal effects box In maple, sycamore, lime and hazel, opening with a curved lid and a crossbow-shaped drawer at the front. Carved wood and panels made of woven hazelwood ribs, imitating basketwork. Decorated with a frieze of wolf's teeth. Resting on four small ball feet, the uprights end in a double top. Bears the date 1802 Cantal, Saint-Flour H. 29 cm - W. 34.5 cm - D. 22 cm Pitting, minor damage Ref: "Meubles populaires de Haute-Auvergne" by Jean-Claude Roc, Editions Watel, 1995, page 125. A similar box is reproduced; it belongs to the Musée de la Haute-Auvergne in Saint-Flour.
