RARE EGYPTIAN STONE JAR Old Kingdom, Ca. 2600 - 2200 BC. A jar carved from banded onyx with a bulbous body tapering slightly towards a flat base. Rising from a sloping shoulder, the short neck leads to an everted rim. Vertical striations in brown, ochre, and off-white run across the surface. The interior is evenly hollowed. For similar see: A.
