RARE KHAZAR MIGRATION PERIOD SWORD WITH SILVER AND BRONZE HANDLE. Ca. AD 700 - 900 A sword with a long, straight iron blade tapering to a point. The hilt comprises a short copper-alloy cross guard with knop terminals, a pale green disc pommel, and a silver-clad grip, one side set with a line of applied plaques and rivets, with a sheet-silver collar. Size: 890mm x 80mm; Weight: 720g. Provenance: Property of a London gallery; formerly in a collection of M.
