Rare handkerchief in Alençon lace and closed crown, needlework, France, last quarter of the 19th century.
With a large frame in Alençon stitch of great finesse and a design of great elegance, structured four-lobed decoration with an airy river and oblong medallions decorated with a twelve-pointed star, each of the corners with a supple stem of three fuchsia flowers and their leaves cut out in very tight stitches with a shading effect.
Shaded ochre cotton, horsehair around the edge of the handkerchief and on the river. Monogrammed MMC under a finely embroidered closed crown in one corner of the linen, the C decorated with small fashions.
