RARE SMALL OTTOMAN SILVER PEDESTAL TABLE Entirely in silver, the circular top is encircled by a double pearl and striated frieze. The baluster-shaped base is decorated with chased acanthus leaves at the top and a frieze of interlacing flowers at the bottom. It stands on three scrolled feet decorated with scrolls and foliage. Ottoman Turkey, late 19th century or early 20th century. Tugra and Saf hallmarks of Sultan Abdülhamid II (reigned 1876-1909). Height: 47.5 cm - Diameter: 32.5 cm Gross weight: approx. 7,200 g (wear and scratches from use) PROVENANCE : - reputedly obtained by Philip Henry Wodehouse Currie, 1st Baron Currie (1834-1906), ambassador to the Sublime Porte (Ottoman Empire) between 1893 and 1898. - by inheritance to this day.
