RARE ROMAN BRONZE STATUE OF A GRYPHON ON GLOBE Ca. AD 100 - 300. A rare Roman bronze statue of a gryphon, perched on a globe with spread wings. The statue displays finely rendered hair on its head and chest, along with flowing feathers on the wings. The gryphon stands on narrow, clawed feet with legs and its head is distinguished by an aquiline beak. Size: 80mm x 60mm; Weight: 215g. Provenance: Private UK collection; previously acquired on the Holland art market in the 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
