RARE SUI / TANG DYNASTY WHITE MARBLE FIGURE OF BODHISATTVA Sui to Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 700. A well-carved and very rare white marble figure from the Sui or Tang Dynasty, depicting a standing Bodhisattva on a plinth. The facial features are finely detailed, and both the hair and robes of the figure are elaborately jewelled. This figure is emblematic of the aesthetic of the Sui and Tang dynasties, where a more naturalistic approach to depictions of Buddhist deities was popular. This item comes with a custom-made stand. Size: 450mm x 110mm; Weight: 3.75kg Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
