RARE URARTIAN BRONZE JAR WITH IBEX FRIEZE.
Ca. 1800 - 1500 BC
A bronze jar with a tapering lower body rising from a flat base to a concave neck below an everted rim, the junction marked by a moulded ring. The neck is decorated with a frieze of four ibex in high relief, each in profile with compact body and bent legs, the long curved horns sweeping back and joining above to form loops around the rim.

Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Germany; formerly with C. E. Schultze collection, Munich, late 1980s.
