Rare cut velvet, Lyon, late 19th century, cream satin printed on chain and shaved by hand, decorated in more than fifteen colours with a large bouquet of flowers au naturel including dahlias, hollyhocks, delphiniums and daisies. Stretched on a stretcher, (slight uniform insolation, a few light marks), 195 x 113 cm. Unusual in its dimensions, with no specific use, this velvet sabre panel is probably one of the technical feats that the great Lyonnais manufacturers presented at major international exhibitions.
