RARE SCROLL PAINTING ON SILK, DEPICTING BIRDS AND FLOWERS, CHINA, MING DYNASTY (1368-1644) Painted with ink and colour on silk, the subject has bright colours and depicts the golden pheasan and the quail on rocks by a plum blossoming tree on which other birds are perching.The aristocratic taste typical of paintings of the Ming Dynasty that started to revive after the decline of art academy in Yuan Dynasty, is well represented in this elegant scroll and one can sense the accurate level of painting of the era. In good conditions, it has been well preserved as never exposed to direct light so the colours still vivid with very minor losses, minor wears above all on the silk of the background as very delicate, light sign of folding, minor scratches, the red seal not clearly readable. 149 cm high, 84 cm wide A RARE HANGING SCROLL PAINTING ON SILK, CHINA, MING DYNASTY (1368-1644) Note: Similar example at the National Museum of Korea and at the Tsinghuan University Art Museum Provenance: from a distinguished mansion in centre of Italy.
