Lot no. 274
A rare technical-economic manual from the Napoleonic period, entitled: 'Manuale de' conteggiate delle monete di argento ed oro ragguagliate in Lire Italiane e Centesimi'.
The volume represents an important historical testimony of the monetary transition in central Italy during Napoleon's Kingdom of Italy, aimed at facilitating the exchange between the old local currencies and the new decimal Italian Lira.
Place of printing: Fermo.
Year: 1811.
Typographer: Dai Tipi di Giuseppe Paccasassi, Departmental printer (Department of Metauro).
Physical details: Original rough paper binding in bright red/orange. The frontispiece has a central typographical frieze and a period handwritten note at the foot: 'Di me Francesco Maria Luciani da Montegranaro', certifying its provenance and local historical use.
Conservation status: Genuine and marginalised copy. Physiological signs of time on the paper, which retains its original consistency.
Historical notes: The Paccasassi printing works in Fermo was the main printing workshop in the Department of Metauro. Documents of this type are of extreme interest to collectors of numismatics, economic history and local history of the Marche region.
